What Is the LG Two-Legged Robot?

LG Electronics unveiled a two-legged AI robot at CES 2024 in Las Vegas. They call it the Smart Home AI Agent.

Think of it as a little robot that lives in your home and helps you manage everything. It moves around on its own, talks to you and even keeps an eye on your pets while you are away.

LG built this robot as part of its “Zero Labor Home” vision. The idea is simple. Smart technology takes care of the boring daily tasks so you do not have to.

What Does It Look Like?

The robot is about a foot tall with a white rounded body. It has a small screen on its face that shows animated eyes which makes it look friendly and a little cute.

It does not walk like a human. Instead it moves on two legs with flexible joints connected to wheels. This lets it glide smoothly from room to room without bumping into things.

How Does It Work?

The LG two-legged robot runs on the Qualcomm Robotics RB5 Platform. This is a smart chip that lets the robot process information quickly and work without always needing the internet.

It has a camera a speaker and several sensors built in. These sensors check the temperature the humidity and the air quality in your home all the time.

The robot connects to your smart home devices and can turn appliances on or off by itself based on what it detects around the house.

Your New Home Security Guard

When you leave the house the robot gets to work. It walks through each room looking for anything unusual.

If it finds a window left open or a light still on it sends a message straight to your phone. This saves energy and gives you peace of mind when you are not home.

Great for Pet Owners

If you have a pet at home this robot is very useful. Its camera and sensors watch your furry friend throughout the day.

If anything unusual happens it sends you an alert right away. You can stay updated on your pet even when you are at work or out running errands.

It Can Read Your Emotions

This is one of the most interesting things about the LG two-legged robot. It listens to your voice and watches your facial expressions to figure out how you are feeling.

If you seem stressed or tired it will play soft calming music to help you feel better. It uses a mix of voice recognition image recognition and language understanding to do this.

You Can Have a Real Conversation With It

This is not just a voice assistant that answers simple questions. The LG Smart Home AI Agent actually understands what you mean not just what you say.

It picks up on context and intention. So if you say something in a tired or frustrated tone it understands that too.

It also expresses itself through its body. It moves its legs and changes its eye expressions to show how it is responding. It feels more like talking to a companion than using a gadget.

Can You Buy It Yet?

Not yet. LG has not announced a release date or price for the Smart Home AI Agent. The robot is still in development and testing. LG has said it plans to bring it to consumers but has not given a specific date.
