Apple has officially unveiled its own augmented reality system called Apple Vision Pro. It is being hailed as Apple’s inaugural “spatial computer” after much anticipation and discussion in recent months.
The wearable system of Apple Vision Pro resembles advanced ski goggles and consists of two ultra-high-resolution displays, each about the size of a postage stamp.
With a total of 23 million pixels, these displays enable users to view 3D graphics in 4K resolution, overlaying them onto their real-world surroundings.
With Apple Vision Pro, you can enjoy a customizable viewing experience. The Cinema Environment lets you watch shows and movies in the exact frame rate and aspect ratio preferred by the creators. Or go for the nature-themed Environment, creating a screen sensation up to 100 feet wide.
Apple brings you Apple Immersive Videos, 180-degree 3D 8K recordings that immerse users in the action. Enjoy popular streaming services like Apple TV+ and Disney+ on Vision Pro.
Gaming enthusiasts can rejoice as Vision Pro supports Apple Arcade, featuring a collection of 100 iPad games available at launch. You can play these games using Bluetooth game controllers connected to the headset.
Apple Vision Pro enables users to engage in highly immersive games and enjoy movies, TV shows, and other videos on a virtual screen that gives the illusion of being 100 feet wide (30.5 m).
An integrated 180-degree Spatial Audio system enhances the audio experience in this regard.
With Apple Vision Pro, users can capture their videos or photos using the built-in three-dimensional camera within the headset.
These captured images can then be viewed through the system, providing users with a sense of being engaged in the recorded environment once again.
Apple Vision Pro offers an intriguing feature similar to the Spacetop AR system. It allows multitasking users to create multiple virtual screens that appear to float in front of them.
This enables simultaneous display of various apps, documents, or other content, with the user seamlessly shifting their gaze between the screens while still being able to see the natural world in the spaces where the screens are not present.
In addition, users can easily control the content they see through Apple Vision Pro using voice commands, hand gestures (such as tapping on apps to select them or flicking the wrist to scroll), and even eye movements.
Users can easily adjust the level of visual obstruction caused by the displayed visuals by using a dial on the side of the headset.
Moreover, when someone approaches the user while they are engrossed in the experience, the display temporarily becomes translucent, revealing the person’s face.
Similarly, the one-piece tempered glass lens of the device lightens, allowing the user’s eyes to be seen, making communication with them more comfortable and less awkward.
